How Can I Get My Mom Help for Her Tremors With Little to No Income?
Question by : How can I get my mom help for her tremors with little to no income?
My mom lives in Georgia. She is currently in drug rehabilitation, and she has severe (I think) tremors in her head and body. It began in just her head, and it’s gotten progressively worse. She needs medical attention but she is unemployed and cannot afford medical coverage. She’s been denied for medicaid, and she’s applied for disability (waiting on response). The problem is that they won’t give her help without proof of the issue and she can’t get proof of the issue without help. She is now 2 years clean, but her drug addiction is still brought up as an excuse as to why she’s having these problems. She has also had several seizures, and she has almost passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle several times (no longer driving). She believes that the issue arose from an abusive ex who would beat her, especially in the head. If you have any advise for how I can help her (from 3 states away) I would be greatly appreciative.

Unfortunately the seizures are most likely caused by her earlier drug abuse. You can think of it like the drugs permanently effected how her nervous system communicates with itself. It’s like having short in an electrical system. The abuse may have caused the seizures but then she would have had the seizures immediatelyy after the injuries and not months later. I wish i could give you better advice but the only you can give her is emotional support and explain to her that the doctors are probably right when it comes to her past.
