How Soon Is Now? – a Conversation With Macklemore + Ryan Lewis and Marco Collins

How Soon is Now? – A Conversation with Macklemore + Ryan Lewis and Marco Collins – On Friday, July 20 of 2012, Macklemore + Ryan Lewis and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame DJ Marco Collins sat down in Seattle to discuss the artists’ emotional new single, “Same Love,” marriage equality and Referendum 74 in Washington State. The dialogue from their conversation was the inspiration behind this short documentary film, “How Soon is Now?,” which is meant to further the discussion of equality in this country and the power and importance of music, or any kind of art, to raise awareness and inspire others. This interview was shot during production of “The Glamour and the Squalor” – a documentary film about the rise, fall and revival of Hall of Fame radio personality Marco Collins, the creation of Seattle’s 107.7 The End, and how together they shaped the future of music – launching the careers of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Beck, Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, Foo Fighters, Garbage and others. The film will also explore Marco’s current battle to stay clean after a decade of drug abuse, his return to breaking contemporary music, as well as his role in the heated and historic marriage equality vote in Washington State.
