Has Anyone Here Ever Been to a Mental Hospital?

Question by LifeLove&Acceptance4All: Has anyone here ever been to a mental hospital?
Whether you were committed, worked there, visited someone there, or whatever, what was your experience with going there?

I would like to work in one some day, and so I would like to know if there is anything that you think I should know about working there.

I was sent to a hospital for trying to commit suicide, but the first hospital they transferred me too was a horrible hospital. All of the people there were mean and they treated you like you were an alien. But the second one they transferred me too was much better. I have to say that some hospitals are much different than others, but if you love kids, then it will be a great job for you. The hospital that i liked had lots of activities, like drawing and going outside to the playground even though you were under extreme close watch i still had fun, even though i was away from home. They also had classes such as learning how to control your emotions and learn how to calm yourself in stressful situations. the food wasn’t all that great but what do you expect it’s hospital food, haha.

I been in one twice for a anorexia..The nurses were pretty good but you have to watch you say especially to people with eating disorder don’t say things like looks like you were hungery today or your looking so good because were interept those as being fat. If you understand people or don’t mine talking to people who are struggling with deep issues I would say go ahead..some of the nurses were better than the doctors..one nurse told me I had to choose ethier the eating disorder and die or choose recovery and get better she said you can’t have both..I will forever remember that. I hope I help, good luck to you and your future:)
